What are black and wild rice?
Pigmented rice is whole grain rice with a coloured bran layer, such as Thai black jasmine rice, which gets its colour from natural anthocyanin pigments. True wild rice (Zizania) is a different grass seed from North America, sourced and supplied by us. Both are used in premium blends and health-focused products.

Black rice and wild rice: what is the difference?
Black rice is true rice with a dark bran layer. Thai black jasmine rice combines colour with a light aroma and a soft texture.
Wild rice is the seed of an aquatic grass, not true rice, with long, dark, firm grains and a nutty taste. It is often blended with other rice for premium retail and restaurant dishes. Its origin is stated on each offer.

Is wild rice real rice?
No. Wild rice is the seed of an aquatic grass (Zizania) native to North America. It is cooked and eaten like rice and often blended with it, but it is a different plant. We source wild rice and state its origin on every offer.
Why is black rice black?
Black rice has a bran layer rich in anthocyanins, the same natural pigments found in blueberries. The colour stays because the rice is not polished.
Is there a minimum order quantity (MOQ) for black and wild rice?
Order quantities for black and wild rice are agreed directly between each buyer and our export team, based on grade, packing and delivery schedule. It can also be combined with other rice types or bag sizes in a mixed container, and regular buyers can arrange scheduled shipments.
